Dr. William Robertson

Dr. William J. Robertson is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon who specializes in sports medicine injuries, as well as, arthroscopic and open management of shoulder, knee, and hip injuries. He is the Head Team Physician for the Dallas Stars NHL Hockey Club and Orthopedic Surgeon at (TMI) Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine and Orthopedics. 

 

Dr. Robertson received his undergraduate education at Brown University where he was also the starting linebacker for the university's football team. He attended SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York City and completed his orthopedic training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Here he was awarded the distinguished house-staff award by Weill Cornell Medical

Center for exemplary all around patient care.

During his education and journey to become an Orthopedic Sports Medicine surgeon, he

performed a traveling fellowship in Switzerland learning about hip and joint preservation.

After his residency he attended a sport medicine fellowship at Harvard Massachusetts General

Hospital. Here he had the opportunity to serve as the assistant team physician to the New

England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and many college and high school teams. 

 

He is an active member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy

Association of North America and the National Hockey League Team Physicians Society. Dr.

Robertson spent 7 years at UT Southwestern Medical Center where he was the Chief of the

Sports medicine and Shoulder service. As the associate professor of Orthopedic Surgery he also

trained doctors at UTSW and Parkland Hospital and received multiple teaching awards.
