This week I continued researching and started working on my original work project. For my original work I wanted to cover
- What is an ACL injury?
- What are the contributing factors that cause or increase your risk of injury? (In male
and female athletes)
- Treatment + Reconstruction (Surgical and Non-Surgical)
- Types of tears and how it differs between sports
- Return to Play + Rehabilitation/Physical Therapy Testing
- Significance + Impact
- Prevention Methods
I found a really fantastic article that had a lot of valuable knowledge about ACL. After reading this article, I collected and organized a lot of information that I will include on my website. I will also use this article for my research assessment this week. However, one thing I noticed was that I have a lot of different articles and research from throughout my journey in ISM. Except, since I am not adding to or creating the website every time I research or annotate an article it was getting difficult to remember everything I wanted to include. So, after reading this article, I created a document with the article name and a brief phrase about a specific topic it addresses that I want to remember to include and look back at. I also included whether or not the article had significant statistics. I want to include a lot of statistics because in regards to design it is very easy to make those standout, and it limits the excessive amount of words while still being impactful.
Overall, the article I read talked about the treatment (surgical in reconstruction and nonsurgical) as well as the types of grafts surgeons could use. I wanted to highlight this because each graft has different advantages and disadvantages and it depends on the athletes priorities to drive that treatment decision. It also talked a little bit about rehabilitation (quadricep strength, etc..) and timing for reconstruction surgery, which I also thought was important to highlight to athletes.
Overall, I have a lot of information and I am starting to make my website and organize that information in a concise, easy to understand, and impactful way.
