And The Research Interviews Have Begun!

Updated: Oct 24, 2023

This past Saturday I had the wonderful opportunity to conduct my first research interview and it was with Dr. Jordan Teel. She is a resident for Baylor Scott and White and Orthopedic Sports Medicine Doctor. Through this wonderful opportunity I got to ask her a lot about her career and journey, research questions regarding injuries, ACL, and prevention, and even told her about my Original Work project.

She is finishing her residency and starting her fellowship next year. She is going to be the team doctor for the Olympic Skiing and Snowboarding team in Vail Colorado. This was so cool to hear about, and I could really see her passion for her career when she talked about this opportunity she received.

Then she told me about her experience doing pre-med in college and playing Volleyball at the same time. I really connected with her on this because I would love to play basketball in college and pursue a career in medicine. So this was very helpful in hearing her advice and encouragement for pursuing your dreams and doing what you love.

After that, I told her about my original work project, and how I am researching ACL injuries. She gave me really good advice and knowledge regarding certain things I should include, like jumping biomechanics and surgery vs non-surgery treatments. She even asked if I could send her my project when I finished it. Overall, it was such a fun and beneficial experience and I really enjoyed talking to Dr. Teel. I think the interview went well and was very helpful not only for my work in ISM but also in helping me get a glimpse at what life is like as a female Orthopedic Sports Medicine doctor.
