Before Thanksgiving break I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Ms. Akins and Dr. Rhodes for a research interview.
It was a fantastic interview and I learned so much about ACL injuries and reconstruction. One thing I noticed was extremely important was the testing and rehabilitation process after reconstruction surgery.
Ms. Akins talked about the Lachman Test and Anterior Drawer Pivot Shift Test they use to diagnose an ACL injury. These are two things I really want to research more in depth about since it is a big part of my original work project. As a result this week my research assessment is about the different ACL injury tests as well as rehabilitation and physical therapy tests after reconstruction.
Ms. Akins and Dr. Rhodes helped me with determining how to make my final project regarding ACL injuries. However, they also gave me the opportunity to come in and record ACL injury diagnosis testing. This week I am also trying to schedule with them when and how I could record it for my project. This is because I want to include a video of these different tests in a video on my website because I think it will also capture more attention and have more impact.
Getting to record these tests and see how they are performed would be such a cool opportunity to just learn and see more about what the Sports Medicine career has. Getting to record and edit the videos is also a really great thing to include in my project because it allows me to combine both my passions of photography and sports medicine, as well as the design of the overall website.
Overall, making my original work project is really exciting because it is the chance to combine the things I am interested in into one big outcome.
